I met the author and film director
Etgar Keret, whose admirer I’ve been for a
long time, for a conversation. I think he is one of the great short story
writers in history, at the level of O. Henry and Maupassant. A fascinating
author who should win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
I just finished reading his latest book,
Suddenly a knock on the door, which
is considered by many to be his finest book. As Etgar is also a member of this
site, I transcribed the interview and asked admins to post it as a conversation
so that people can then join in and continue to develop the topics we discuss.
I’ll post the conversation in installments, where each
question will be a subtopic of this one. If you subscribe to this topic (like Following in the case of people), on the
right hand side, then you’ll get updates when new installments get posted. I
tried to ask questions involving topics which are being discussed here. Note below the 'This topic continues in the following branching conversations'.)
His last book hasn’t been published in English yet, but he
published a while ago a story from it here,
Snot.
