I've just been handed tickets to hear Alexander Toradze--Friday night!!
Usually I learn something about the pieces before I attend and listen to them so I know what to expect.
Between now and Friday the best research I'm going to be able to do is whatever's on Wikipedia.

Any insights? Anything I just have to know or watch for with these pieces?

Janacek: Suite from The Cunning Little Vixen
Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 5 in G major, Op. 55

Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition (arr. by Ravel)

Thank you.
I'm not sure what is there is to say.

You obviously read that Pictures at an exhibition was inspired by a painting exhibit, so you might want to read the painting music discussion, and those it sends to.
I don't think there is anything you need to know besides this.

All the pieces are beautiful. Have fun!

(If you would like recommendation for recordings of these pieces I added some, but I haven't listened to these recordings of Mussorgsky for a while to know if they're the best. There is also a recording by Toradze of the Prokofiev concerto's.)
Music Discussed
Leos Janácek: The Cunning Little Vixen - Lucia Popp / Eva Randová / Dalibor Jedlicka / Vienna Philha
Tchaikovsky: 1812; Mussorgsky / Solti, Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition
Richter plays Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 5 / Piano Sonata No. 8
Prokofiev: The Five Piano Concertos; Overture on Hebrew Themes

In response to John Stevenson
Thank you!
Hi Linda,
I've nothing to add to John's suggestions. Enjoy the concert, it's a beautiful program.
