Instead of the Q&A model it offers an experience. A platform for discovery of ideas, people, and yourself.     Continue >
Changes, Evolutions
I find that my opinions have changed, even within the recent past, and I think it is a really good thing.  Looking over some of my posts, I find I could, would and certainly should update certain thoughts.  I am just wondering if others feel the same way.
I definitely feel the same way Jeanne!
I would even go as far as to say that every single opinion of mine having to do with a discussion I've either participated in here or simply followed have changed. Sometimes, if very rarely, it changed to a contradictory opinion, but almost always it becomes more detailed. People say of a contradictory opinion that it's a 180 degree turn - I would say my opinions have almost always turned at least a few degrees, in understanding better the direction they were trying to denote.
You start with a picture of the situation and constantly more and more details of that picture start to appear, other points of view, other thoughts, until you have a better idea what is it that you are really thinking.

Thinking of a map metaphor, I would say more and more details on the map appear allowing to be informed on where you want to go and how to get there.
Very definitely.  Every exposure to some idea gives me, if not a different perception, then certainly a fuller, rounder, more voluptuous (in some instances) perception.
Pity the people that doesn't happen to.  Just sitting there getting dusty.
I have been feeling this way in my life.  I have re-examined positions and opinions (everybody has one!) I have had in the past and have changed my views on somethings.  I feel like I am put in a position sometimes where I have to almost defend that I am not merely being "inconsistent" but have re-evaluated my thought processes which were sound at the time.  I probably need to think about and figure out why I have such an attachment to not being called inconsistent.  I guess part of it is because the word (inconsistent) can have a negative connotation.  I don't want my 'image' (haha) to be tainted by the word inconsistent.
