Do humans have instincts?
Now, before you go rushing off to type a bunch of words, I'm asking you to finish reading the rest of this.
Thanks.
First, what it meant by instincts? You may think you know but just because you know the moon is made of cheese doesn't make it so. Go find out. If you do the Wiki, be prepared to not like what they say, way down at the bottom. What is the difference between a nervous arch and an instinct? What is the difference between a tendency and an instinct?
Secondly, whatever your answer, what are the consequences of your answer?
1. If there are instincts, the things that are instinctual we can't help.
2. If there are no instincts, then it's all learned and we can learn something else.
Thirdly, in your life, what are the things that you would rather be instinctual than not?
Fourthly, in your life, what are the things that you would rather be learned than not?
Fifthly, in your society/culutre, where do you see the push for certain behaviors to be labeled as instinctual rather than learned. Why do you think this is?
Sixly, in your society/culture, where do you see the push for certain behaviors to be labeled as learned rather than instinctual. Why do you think this is?
Be warned, it is much safer to your continued level of ease/unease with yourself if you do not apply these questions to your self.
