I'm not sure this post will interest anybody but I'll post it anyway.
After Arthur posted a song from
Gentlemen prefer blondes,
post, from 1953,I watched a few of its songs and got to this one:
The piece immediately reminded me of a a classic scene from one of the greatest musicales,
Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (The young girls of Rochefort), 1967,
The scene was no doubt a tribute to
Gentlemen prefer blondes. Notice the similarity in choreography, but nevertheless how different it looks.
I wasn't aware of this "quotation," and as both these films are classics some of you might be interested.
(Don't confuse
Gentlemen prefer blondes with
Blondes prefer gentlemen from 1968, whose plot is: A training/indoctrination film put out by the U.S. Navy to show its
troops that women do not like men who are loud, obnoxious, drunken sex
maniacs.)
