I was just wondering what does the writer's job entail? Is it something that she can do on the side of another active professional/family life or is it a full time job, and how do you go on learning it?
Does the writer
need to practice everyday, make exercises in style and/or rhymes, study
her grammar thoroughly, go on experiencing different jobs, make research
on the subjects she writes?
Does it make sense at all to have dreams of being a writer without
having the time to invest in the apprenticeship of this profession?
It
is a question I've often asked myself. One of my favorite recurrent
dreams is when I dream that I wrote a story of fiction that has nothing
to do with me and that was simply good. But then I wake up and remember
very little of the story I wrote, and life takes over with so many other
things that need my attention that I never get to the point of even
writing down those dreams (that are rare too). Not to mention that if
writing would need the same time investment as my current job, I simply
need to wait to be in pension before starting to learn it!
In the meanwhile I keep on writing here, I think it's good practice if I want to make my dream come true one day.
