Il Divo
Yesterday I went to see Il Divo, a movie by Paulo Sorrentino. Before going I didn’t look for the movie’s subject, so I came there in my total ignorance concerning the Italian political scene between the 70s and 90s. It’s a very esthetical movie, I like the movement of the camera and the subject being power, he uses well the music throughout the movie to give a parallel perspective and meaning to it, the transitions between the scenes are interesting as well. I was just frustrated to be overwhelmed from the beginning with a lot of information and characters (all being old men, which does not facilitate recognition), and throughout the movie I had to make quite an effort to understand what’s going on there and felt the movie was more intended to those people who knew already the circumstances and less to the uninformed public. I came back home and started to read about it and thought it was not that complicated after all, and I wondered if I should go see it again as now, being more informed I could give less attention to the plot and more to the movie itself.
Has anybody seen it?
