The Living Room Me and society Interpretation of dream?
THINQon is a platform for a more intelligent web. It aims to replace the ruling paradigm of the web – that of sharing and gathering information – with a sharing and achieving of understanding. Instead of the Q&A model it offers an experience. A platform for discovery of ideas, people, and yourself.     Continue >
Interpretation of dream?
I had a very vivid dream last night in which I did not tell a particular piece of information to a friend of mine and he got very upset.  Nothing ethically dicey, I should add. Just something about my life that I prefer not to share. It was quite graphic, like watching a soap opera. I've never really had dreams like this before. But now I'm left with the age old question:

Is this my subconscious sending a warning?
Or is it just me being afraid?

What do I do?
I don't know about you, but often when someone gets angry with me in real life, I don't really know how to react, so things tend to go badly. But then immediately afterwards I start thinking about what I could have said to make the situation turn out completely differently. Usually I come up with quite brilliant solutions -- which, of course, do me no good whatsoever.

But now you, with great luck, are in exactly the opposite situation. You have had this very vivid dream, and if your subconscious is at all good at its job, it was probably quite accurate. Probably accurate enough for you to be able to imagine *exactly* how you would feel after such an argument. Great! It's as if this actually happened. Dwell for a moment on that sinking feeling -- long enough for the Monday-morning quarterbacking to kick in.

Once you've come up with a better way to handle it, file that away and remind yourself that the fight hasn't actually happened. But if it does, you're all set -- you know exactly how to react. Well done.

Good luck!
I agree with Emily. I recently saw a documentary on dreams. One of the interesting ideas that came up is that dreams allow your mind to practice for difficult situations that you may have to face in real life. So take a little time to dwell on the dream, and think what you can learn from it, and how you can make the most of it.
