Occupy the Internet
THINQon is a platform for a more intelligent web. It aims to replace the ruling paradigm of the web – that of sharing and gathering information – with a sharing and achieving of understanding. Instead of the Q&A model it offers an experience. A platform for discovery of ideas, people, and yourself.     Continue >
One Race
Do you think its possible all races could merge into one single race in the future?
I mean think about this -

World population statistics
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_population)
Total Population 6.8 billion (approx)
Expected total population by 2040-50 is 9 billion.

This is mainly due to fertility rates - below from 2000 to 2005

237.771 million in Asia
92.293 million in Africa
38.052 million in Latin America
16.241 million in Northern America
3.264 million in Europe
1.955 million in Oceania
383.047 million in the whole world
Looking at these figures  - currently ~75 % of the population are on 2 continents - Africa and Asia.
By 2100 - This figure increases to ~82%.

Biggest populations in the world :
1  China[56] 1,335,870,000 19.64% Chinese Official Population Clock 2  India 1,176,930,000 17.3% Indian Official Population Clock 3  United States 308,692,000 4.54% United States Official Population Clock

So basically - Due mainly to birth and death rates in certain countries, breeding across racial barriers is inevitable.
So back to my question - will we at some point in the future become one race - either indian or chinese (or maybe a mixture of both)?
2500 AD perhaps ?
Mohammed,

I think that the world is definitely moving towards a more heterogeneous mixture; however, I also believe that there are many disparate groups that fear this movement, and pass this "fear" on to their progeny.
Actually we are one race now and always have been. What we call races are just variations that occurred over time.  Race is a concept that has no basis in science. Like God.

In response to Cardinala
Cardinala,

I agree with the idea that we are simply the human race; however, the "validity" of various races has been so ingrained in the shared psyche of our planet, that the simple response of we are one race usually elicits muttering or eye rolling.
