So I am enjoying this site. Nice to find some thoughtful humans on the web. For the last couple of years, I have been working on my reality tunnel. For more information on that wiki Anton Wilson.
The concept as I understand it is this. The more you know as learned from books, the better your physical ability to access reality. If you read several thousands of books on varied subjects, you can see more, smell more, hear more than the other humans, who are less well read.
This is in some ways like a religion, as you need to have faith that this can, and will be so. Well for this human, so far so good in my humble, or really not so humble opinion. I canceled my Bell TV dish. Now I just read and learn, and read and learn, all the time. Oh, I have not missed the TV for a minute.
My biggest problem is I have a hard time tolerating the other 90 percent. I have a hard time staying engaged in conversation with the average human as they are self involved, and concerned with things like fashion, or TV, or pop music, and a large list of other things that I seldom waste time on.
Oh by the way, I am over 40 getting close to fifty. Not much life left to get things done. The reason I post this little rant, is I encourage other thoughtful humans to try the tunnel growing mojo.
I urge you to start with regaining your instincts. Learn to climb, shoot, track, and get in better physical shape too. I do not know why I know this, but I do, reclaiming your animal instincts also kicks your thinking brain into high gear.
In a previous post, I was recommending acting like a professional wrestling fan, around casual acquaintances. I do not tolerate being condescended to, and this is also true of the average person too. I mention this because when you get the tunnel going the average person becomes what I call a pylon. A cone you have to move around. This is bigoted behavior, I am guilty of most days. Be nice to the pylons, they are only doing what they do, and are not trying to get in your way that is just the nature of pylons.
Another part of the tunnel building I have not covered is related to the above lack of tolerance of people with their heads up their bums. Spend more time in the moment. The past is gone, the future is not here yet, the moment is all we have. So far, it is impossible for me to be in the moment 100% of the time, you have to relax and run on autopilot some of the time. A lot of the people, are on autopilot a lot more than they realize.
To explain the pylon thing, and no disrespect as I am a pylon too some of the time. I am in the grocery store. My list, is in my head, and short. There are other humans, with lists, thinking about the work day they just finished, where they are going to drive to next, and so on. I am focusing on the now, what I am seeing, smelling, and hearing, the temperature even, as I move around the pylons to quickly find my items and get the heck out of that den of zombies.
Yes adventureboy exaggerates the problem, and yes, some people are paying attention to what is going on around them, however, I gotta say, the pylons out number them.
After a couple of years of tunnel building I have to say Anton, and some of the other philosopher persons, may have something. I am pretty sure I see more, hear more, feel more, and the list goes on, than I did before deciding to work on the reality tunnel.
It would seem to me, as I was aware of to some degree before, that reality is subjective. There are limits to that of course. I cannot fly, and will not attempt to without a plane. I will be getting a plane some day not too far away however. My deductive reasoning is pretty rocking nowadays, and I often know what is coming next, when I watch video of various types.
So are there any tunnel growers out there, and or, anyone interested in taking the concept for a spin. I suggest books on tracking to start, and getting outdoors more. Instinct awakening really grows the tunnel fast.
The end. Best regards, adventureboy7
