More and More research have been undertaken in the recent period on the life and the works of Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn. I'would like to focus on the biography written by Françoise Tillard (Fanny Hensel, éditions Symétrie, France), which perfectly shows how sensitive Fanny was, through a life devoted to the musical creation in a difficult environment.
Even if we can find some of her works, notably on Internet, most of her 500 pieces, mostly for piano, remain unpublished.
I find her pieces for piano very interesting: they have a discreet romantism, a modest charm. They really deserve to be rediscovered.
Among the most beautiful pieces, I would like to point out the "Römische Klavierstücke" (especially "Ponte Molle", the last one), written during a long trip in Italy, in one of the happiest period of her life.
