Occupy the Internet
THINQon is a platform for a more intelligent web. It aims to replace the ruling paradigm of the web – that of sharing and gathering information – with a sharing and achieving of understanding. Instead of the Q&A model it offers an experience. A platform for discovery of ideas, people, and yourself.     Continue >
Suspicious of Love
Here's a personal gripe of mine.
We've spoken about words/concepts that get over-used.  Passion being one of them.
And we've spoken about hot-button topics that get used to provoke a visceral response:  'But what about the women and children?'

Now I want to talk about love.
You see it and hear it everywhere.
But I don't believe any of it.

We hide behind love and trivialize love and we use it to justify things that have no relation to love at all.
It's been mentioned in our discussions by Ron Maxson and John Purdue and Alan Berger and lots of us, I imagine, but those are the three I remember.
The minute I see someone hanging out the love sign my eyes narrow and I begin a slow sizzle.  'What do you want?'  I think to myself.
I distrust the word to such a degree that it provokes that instant response in me: I become suspicious and guarded.

I notice now that the three poor individuals I mention here are men.  Hm, what's up with that?  I'm sure the word has been used by lots of us girls on this site but it hasn't jumped out at me then.

Any insights will be appreciated.

Your friend, Linda
As you mentioned men Linda,  I'll point to a discussion (you know) about what love means for men: post .
But this is not what you're really asking Linda. You're obviously asking something different but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe you could make it more precise? Insights into what?

And just linking to the other discussions you mentioned: Passion? and But think of the women and children!

In response to John Stevenson
John, thanks for linking those posts for me.  Virginia gave me an excellent tutorial on linking a few weeks ago but I've apparently hit the wall at the end of my tech aptitude.
