The greatest musical piece ever written!
Let me start by apologizing for a somewhat silly post, but I'm currently listening to Mozart's Don Giovanni and just wanted to say that I find it the greatest musical piece ever written!

I can't explain why. Perhaps it's the mix of Mozart's gracefulness and the gravity of death. It's very particular form of dramatics. The mix of seriousness and lightness, of gravity and grace, in the figure of Don Juan.
A masterful piece.

If anyone else would like to share what's their greatest musical piece ever, or their opinion on Don Giovanni, I for one would be interested in hearing about it.

Mozart: Don Giovanni

The perceived value of a piece of music as "the greatest" depends on my current state of mind. It changes. Right now, I think Berlioz's Requiem is right there at the top, even though I don't care for his other compositions. Some days, fairly many in fact, I could be satisfied with Bach's solo cello works. Much as I love almost everything Mozart, his requiem feels too angry to me, so I hardly ever listen to it.
