I'm new here. I loved the craft of The Road by McCarthy. In my opinion, it is even better than Hemingway.
I loved the message, and the very small glimmer of hope, at the end. I loved the father's constant attention to his son and the way the son spoke the trueth. I was literally shocked to learn of the people under the big house, who were crying out for "help" and of what was going to happen to them. I was so shocked I had to put down my book and go out side to view the stars for awhile. Needless to say, I finished the book at 2 AM and then found myself thinking about McCarthy the next day as I tried to write myself. What a genius.
