From the way they sit you see three different characters. The man on the left seems to be full of nervous energy. Perhaps he does not constantly rock back and forth in his chair, but certainly at any moment he is ready to spring up and make a point, or do something decisive. Impulsive but brooding, with an amazing gaze.
The man in the center seems much more gentle. He probably can hear things which are very quiet and distinguish many degrees of difference.
The man on the right, of the three, seems to be most the man of the world.
I am not sure any of them can lay claim to the hat.
