Watchmen - Chapter 6: The abyss gazes also
Purple color, Rorschach’s color, and the chapter will be mostly about Rorschach we can assume.
Notice also the purple color below his eye in 6-1-6.

6-7-1 the smudge on his face reminds one a bit of the Rorschach image, but also notice how the dirt on his face will move to be on others faces, such as 6-12-6.

6-14-2 Then is in bold. First time Rorschach pronounces anything since childhood (6-6-8).

6-14-8 Rorschach mentions having friends, to which immediately the doctor asked – you have friends?

6-15-6 “We do not do this thing because it is permitted. We do it because we have to.” – Rorschach.

6-18-(3-4) “Put fourteen in hospital needlessly.”And next “Fifteenth gave me an address.” Then in what way were the 14 needless?

Notice the silence in 6-(19-23).

I wanted for a while to mention the image of 4-19-5 where the chest of the Comedian is like the stars at night. Now Rorschach, image in 6-25-8, words in 6-27-1 “Bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent.”

Note how now the doctor too, in 6-(27-28) is speaking without pronunciation.

Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster,
and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also at you. –Nietzsche.

Nice :-) Darkness.

I will mention Rorschach in many ways has to do with the sublime, but this is too complicated here and too connected to my own outside thoughts so I’ll drop it. But his hideousness is connected and can remind you of Mr. Hyde.

End of painted part.

Written part

A very impressive written part.

The most noticeable thing in the writing is all the typos in the psychiatric hospital summary of the history of Rorschach. Why? Why does the author choose to have here all of these typos? The circle of a coffee mug on the page? One reason is clear- how it was written half-hazardly, and a sense of reality, but is there more?

His Charlton home essay on his parents can simply be there to say how he wanted to become like his imagined missing father. He also supports dropping the atomic bomb and killing millions if it is to stop a war and like that saving in the end more people.

But the dream is more complicated. Why is this kind of description of sex? Doesn’t it also reminds one a bit of a Rorschach image?
