What are the benefits of studying a term abroad?
What are the benefits of studying a term (or a year) overseas, especially for an MBA student? In particular, for someone coming from the US, what are the benefits of studying in Europe?
Business wise, there is an increased demand for managers that can work internationally, or at least communicate effectively across national borders. Also worth mentioning are the differences in institutions between North America and Europe. Differences in government and firm involvement, for example, in health benefits, in regulating product markets, and in interacting with labor unions. And people's attitudes towards work/life balance are also different. Some of these differences may give prospective managers a useful perspective regarding possible changes that may even take place within the US.

The social side was nicely discussed in A new country, a rebirth.
Fact is, to most Americans, the world begins and ends in the U. S., so a person who is aware that there are other countries and other ways of doing things has a great advantage when entering the business world: flexibility and versatility.
Who knows, you might learn another language or even find that living elsewhere has some unforeseen advantages.
