You stand in line in the bathroom even in your dreams
Even in your dreams you stand in line in the restroom.

It seems strange that even in your dreams you don’t get your way. You need to stand in line in the restroom, and sometimes other things which are not exactly what you want. It’s true that it may be your body’s way to tell you that you need to get up and pee, and yet isn’t there a simpler more direct way for it to do that? Why does our mind talk to us in these annoying ways instead of telling us – get up and pee? It annoys us, bothers us, as means to get us to get up. Similarly when it wants you to get up in the morning – it puts you in annoying situations.

There is much discussion and research about how dreams operate, what do they tell us, are they words from the gods as some greeks thought, or our subconscious wishes as Freud thought. (Some examples from here: Reacting to one's dreams, Dreams vs. daydreams , and What if the devil could be killed?)

But:

1) Is annoying us really the only way to get us to wake up? (Am thinking about it after an annoying dream).

2) What does that say about human nature, that direct speech is not enough? Or at least that this is the way we choose to communicate even to ourselves!
Is direct speech enough when we are awake?

3) We all know about people saying annoying things to get our attention. But, supposedly, honey attracts more than Vinegar. Does it? It doesn’t necessarily in dating. Where does honey work better and where does vinegar?

I’m a great believer that a nicer atmosphere is better for everyone and one can get that much further there. This is witnessed by what is achieved in politics compared to the sciences. Vinegar clearly doesn’t get you far, while honey can get you very far. Or, to continue with the famous metaphor, is everything cooking, using the rights amounts of vinegar and honey? How does this straightforwardly speaking truth work in real life?
